The Human Resources Department of the 吃瓜爆料 (AUN) hosted a workshop on May 20, 2025, titled 鈥淪afeguarding Confidential and Sensitive Information: Understanding Confidentiality and Legal Responsibility.鈥� The event aimed to educate staff on best practices for handling sensitive data, emphasizing ethics, integrity, and legal accountability.
Opening the workshop, AUN President Dr. DeWanye Frazier stressed the importance of workplace culture over financial incentives. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not about money,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 about the people you work with.鈥�
Mr. Usoh E. Usoh, speaking on organizational ethics, highlighted the need for value-driven decision-making. 鈥淓mployees must ensure their decisions align with the organization鈥檚 core values,鈥� he said. He underscored the role of professionalism in organizational growth, urging managers to model integrity: 鈥淣o one knows us better than the people we work with.鈥�
On cybersecurity, Director of IT Mr. Abdul Muhammed Murtala warned about the growing risk of digital vulnerabilities. 鈥淧eople can create backdoors for hackers,鈥� he cautioned. 鈥淏e cautious of the sites you visit. Don鈥檛 use university devices to access unauthorized streaming platforms or download from unverified websites.鈥�
Mr. Hayatudeen Muhammed, emphasized that staff must treat university contracts as private documents. 鈥淪haring these documents with third parties violates the terms of agreement,鈥� he said.
Wrapping up the event, Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, Hajiya Faiza Abubakar, encouraged participants to apply what they learned. 鈥淭his is all for us to do better,鈥� she said. 鈥淲e must commit to practicing what we鈥檝e learned to protect our information and improve as an institution.鈥�
