The Human Resources Department of the 勛圖惇蹋 (AUN) hosted a workshop on May 20, 2025, titled Safeguarding Confidential and Sensitive Information: Understanding Confidentiality and Legal Responsibility. The event aimed to educate staff on best practices for handling sensitive data, emphasizing ethics, integrity, and legal accountability.
Opening the workshop, AUN President Dr. DeWanye Frazier stressed the importance of workplace culture over financial incentives. Its not about money, he said. Its about the people you work with.
Mr. Usoh E. Usoh, speaking on organizational ethics, highlighted the need for value-driven decision-making. Employees must ensure their decisions align with the organizations core values, he said. He underscored the role of professionalism in organizational growth, urging managers to model integrity: No one knows us better than the people we work with.
On cybersecurity, Director of IT Mr. Abdul Muhammed Murtala warned about the growing risk of digital vulnerabilities. People can create backdoors for hackers, he cautioned. Be cautious of the sites you visit. Dont use university devices to access unauthorized streaming platforms or download from unverified websites.
Mr. Hayatudeen Muhammed, emphasized that staff must treat university contracts as private documents. Sharing these documents with third parties violates the terms of agreement, he said.
Wrapping up the event, Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, Hajiya Faiza Abubakar, encouraged participants to apply what they learned. This is all for us to do better, she said. We must commit to practicing what weve learned to protect our information and improve as an institution.
